A beautiful quality cloisonné enamel bowl on brass or bronze with two highly stylised mediaeval maidens on horseback with a greyhound and large white bird, and surrounded by stylised foliage, on a mottled blue-green ground, which matches the verso.
Made in the 1970s by German painter and celebrated enamel artist, Walter Lochmüller (1905-1992). Unsigned.

Condition
A small flake of missing enamel to the front edge (at the 3 o’clock position) which is largely disguised by the mottled nature of the ground, otherwise in excellent condition.
