A giant and very heavy glass centrepiece bowl or dish made using the ‘incalmo’ technique, a complex method whereby hemispheres of glass are joined whilst molten and formed into a single shape – this bowl has an opaque black base, a clear cane, then another black section, finished with another cane to the rim. Produced by Murano glassworks, Cenedese & C. in the mid- to late-1980s, and very much in the style of the period.

Bears a foil factory label to the rim.

  • Condition

Some significant wear to the base and underside of the bowl – see last image – which isn’t obvious when placed because of the bowl’s sharp conical shape. Very light scratch inside, otherwise near-perfect.
