An original vintage offset lithograph print by German artist, HAP Grieshaber (1909-1981), from a 1966 folio by Leipzig Presse, after his much sought-after woodblock portfolio ‘Der Totentanz von Basel’ (‘The Dance of Death of Basel’) of the same year, which only ran to an edition of 30.

Each colour was printed individually – a time-consuming process that required drying time between the multiple passes through the offset machine, but which resulted in beautifully layered translucent colours and texture almost indistinguishable from the woodcut originals, as well as small irregularities between prints, lending a more ‘handmade’ feel.
