An original and scarce French Flambeau, or Empire Torchère, glass shade of a very deep red that looks almost black when unlit, cased in a layer of clear glass, made during the 1930s to 1950s. It is suspended on a chrome-plated shade gallery.
The shade gives out a very strong red light when used in isolation, and a warm accent glow if used amongst white lighting, especially if using a lower wattage bulb or one that is dimmable. We’ve provided two photographs to show these looks.
The lamp accepts a single B22 bayonet bulb, and has been rewired with a new British-made earthed bulb-holder and a generous length of premium Italian 3-core double-insulated cable with an attractive mottled grey linen woven sheath.
Does not include a ceiling rose.
