A fantastic and complete 'Pullman' type lamp produced by J & W.B. Smith, c.1920-25. Made of copper, the lamp is complete with its original switched bulb-holder, which works perfectly, and retains most of its original 'oxidised copper' finish.
'Pullman' lamps were developed for use in British Pullman carriages, where they could be standing or wall-hanging (this example has a hole in the foot for hanging or securing to a surface), but were adopted by home-owners for domestic use.
The lamp is paired with a tulip-shaped prismatic glass shade of the same period that complements the organic nature of the lamp base and beautifully diffuses the light.
The lamp has been rewired in a generous length of premium Italian-made cable with vintage-style zig-zag braid. The lamp has been earthed to bring it up to modern safety standards without affecting any of the original componenets.
Accepts a B22 bayonet cap bulb.
Art Nouveau Pullman Lamp With Holophane Shade
Condition
Some rubbing to the oxidised finish, as you'd expect. Some chipping to the bottom rim of the glass shade, but this is completely concealed by the brass gallery when fitted and does not affect its stability or use.
