A large vintage – nearly antique – mouth-blown opaline glass plafonnier shade with moulded decoration, including a ribbed body and a frieze of stylised oak leaves in bas relief. The surface of the glass has a warm red-black faux-marble finish, achieved by dipping the shade into an aqueous solution with paints floating on the surface, as with the production of traditional marbled paper.
It has three decorative gilt bronze knops that support the chain inside the shade, and three generous lengths of beautiful solid welded bronze chain.
Shade not supplied with ceiling hook or light source.
