An exceptional and complex table lamp in (we think) the form of an abstracted fish, made of white volcanic limestone quarried in the Luberon, and hand-carved by Saint-Tropez-based sculptor, Albert Tormos, in the 1960s or 1970s. This is the largest and most intricate lamp by Tormos that we've ever seen, comprising several ostensibly delicate 'fins' of limestone that overlap and interlock. The Luberon limestone is pitted with bubbles and some vestiges of the carving process, leaving an interesting, tactile surface. It is signed to the side, 'AT' for 'Albert Tormos'. The lamp has been refitted with a vintage-style E27 Edison Screw Bakelite bulb-holder, and has been rewired with a length of high-quality braided Italian-made twisted flex in a bright, contrasting blue colour, with a vintage-style black Bakelite inline switch.
