A rare minimalist, modernist antique desk lamp of swan neck form with a mouthblown ribbed glass shade and a simple base of two shaped bars in a forward-looking style more linked with the 1950s and 60s. The lamp was made around 1920 in Germany of solid hand-wrought polished brass.
The ribbed shade casts a fantastic striped pattern, and works best with low-wattage bulbs. The lamp has its original 1920s brass and ceramic bulb-holder, which has been brought up to modern safety standards with the addition of a concealed earth tag in the fitting whilst still retaining its authenticity.
The lamp has been rewired with a good length of brand new, but period-correct, three core twisted cable with a mottled brown linen textile braid, with an inline Bakelite switch in a vintage style.
