A fairly scarce vintage Model 7675/68 desk lamp with large adjustable shade, designed c.1955 by German lighting firm, Gebrüder Cosack (Gecos).

The shade, the angle of which can be adjusted at a hinge connected to the lamp-holder, is lacquered in a very pale yellow-cream colour called ‘kanariengelb’ (‘Canary Yellow’), with a white underside. It connects to a fixed polished brass arm, which is in turn fixed to a heavy base that still bears its original black ‘wrinkly’ paint.

The lamp won an IF Design Award in 1956. The designer wasn’t mentioned, so it probably fell to an in-house design team. The lamp shares a similar profile with other lamps of the period, like Bruno Gatta’s Model 8023 for Stilnovo, Italy, and Christian Dell’s Model 6787 for Kaiser Leuchten, also Germany.

The lamp has been dismantled, cleaned and rewired with a good length of premium Italian 3-core double insulated cable with a period-style mottled grey woven linen sheath.
