An unusual and scarce thick-walled vase in a watery pale blue ‘Akva’ (‘Aqua’) glass, made by Danish glassworks, Holmegaard, in 1976 – two years after the Akva series was discontinued. It doesn’t appear in the factory catalogues, and is absent from Per Lutken’s ‘Glass Is Life’ book, which contains a fairly comprehensive catalogue of design drawings.

Research indicates that it’s from a small series of thick-walled free-blown pieces made in 1976 in the Akva colourway, some of which are held in the Holmegaard Prototype and Studio Collection held by the Næstved Museum.

Signed ‘HG6’ to the base.
