An original vintage / near-antique mouthblown opaline glass shade with a complex stepped ‘skyscraper’ design, capped with a period brass gallery. It is most probably English in original, and dates to the 1930s.
The lamp is small, and would likely have been for hanging in a window, rather than illuminating a large room. The translucent nature of the opaline glass means it gives out a very soft, even and diffused light.
The lamp has been brought up to modern safety standards with a brand new British-made earthed bulb-holder, and has been rewired with a generous length of premium 3-core double insulated cable with a period-style grey linen braid.
