A pair of large, vintage and scarce chalkware lamps, with a pronounced basket-weave / rope decor and unusual cog-shaped bases, cold-glazed in a very deep and glossy mustard colour. They were made in the UK, probably in the 1950s or early 1960s.
Chalkware (moulded plaster of Paris) of this size and condition, and in a matching pair, is unusual to find, and these two lamps make quite a statement.
They have both been cleaned, restored with period-appropriate E27 Bakelite fittings that meet modern electrical standards, and rewired with a very generous length of premium Italian-made twisted cable with a white fabric braid. New dark green baizes have been attached to the bases. Each lamp has an inline Bakelite switch.

Condition
Excellent for age. A few spots of very minor wear to the base rim, but otherwise near-perfect.
