A scarce and eye-catching vintage ‘Lins’ series floor lamp, model 710-1, of lacquered metal in a vibrant custard (or bright mustard) yellow, with a stepped shade and an inset white dome-shaped polycarbonate diffuser. It was designed c.1970 by renowned designer, P.O Ström – best known for his glass designs for Alsterfors – and was produced by Swedish lighting firm, Elit AB.
At 112cm / 44” tall, the lamp is designed for placing next to low furniture, where it makes an excellent reading lamp, or as an ambient light in the corner of a room, where it gives out a strong downlight and a diffused outwards glow.
The lamp has been dismantled, cleaned and rewired. We’ve retained the original Bakelite lamp-holder with a string pull-switch, and have concealed an earth tag within the lamp to bring it up to modern electrical safety standards. It has a generous length of premium Italian 3-core cable with a vintage-style houndstooth check Rayon sheath.
The lamp accepts a single E27 Edison screw bulb, and comes with a 3-pin UK plug.
The base is marked ‘Elit 710-1’.
