A vintage pair of ostentatious and delightfully wonky handmade and hand-painted faience table lamps in the form of candlesticks, modelled on 17th Century Conímbriga pottery. They were made in the last quarter of the 20th Century in Vila Nova de Anços, Soure, Portugal.

They feature matching naïve designs of pink and blue animals and stylised flora, and colourful decoration across pretty much the entire body.

The lamps have been brought up to modern electrical safety standards with new earthed bulb-holders and generous lengths of vintage-style premium Italian triple-insulated three core cable with a white Rayon braid. Each lamp accepts a single B22 bayonet bulb.

Both lamps are extensively signed to the base with:

Excellent. All of their apparent 'flaws' - a decidedly lop-sided disposition, rubbed decoration, small flakes to the base, etc, all happened before they left the factory and lend them a rustic charm.
