A very large and very eye-catching vintage promotional chalkware table lamp in the shape of a bottle of Blue Nun, complete with oversized labels over an airbrushed trompe-l'œil glassy surface. It was made in Germany for the UK market in the early- to mid-1960s by Eduard Kaib Kunstwerkstätten, which had a line in oversized display bottles for various wine and spirit companies during this period. It originally would have been displayed in a pub or off licence, in the days when Blue Nun was a popular and relatively expensive choice of wine.
The lamp has been dismantled, cleaned, rewired and brought up to modern safety standards with a brand new British-made patinated solid brass safety switched lampholder and a generous length of 3-core twisted cable with a vintage aesthetic brown silk braid.
The lamp accepts a single B22 bayonet bulb. It comes fitted with a UK 3-pin plug. International buyers should be able to readily and inexpensively source plug adaptors for their domestic outlets.

Condition
As you might expect of a 60 year old item intended to be ephemeral and disposable, the lamp has some wear and tear – a few isolated scratches to the chalkware, light wear and discolouration to the paper labels, and base wear – but it is generally in very good condition, considering. Clean and ready to use.
